For anyone who hasn’t been to Capri before we recommend staying in Capri Town (as opposed to Anacapri). Anacapri is beautiful with some nice hotels but getting around Capri Town is much easier and there’s more going on!

We have room blocks at the following hotels, but if there is a hotel you have been dreaming about staying at on Capri, please don’t feel like you have to book through the room block. Please note all of the hotels require a 5-night minimum for the room blocks. If you would like to book a shorter stay, we recommend booking directly with a hotel or through Airbnb.

getting to Capri

*PASSPORT REMINDER*

Please check your passport and confirm it is valid for at least three months - and preferably six months - after your intended return back to the US. The enforcement of this rule is very strict at this time. It’s also a good idea to take a photo of your passport and have it on your phone when traveling to Europe.

Flights

The island of Capri is located 25 miles off the coast of Naples, Italy and is accessed by ferry or private charter. The two closest major airports are Naples International Airport (NAP) located in Naples, and Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (FCO) in Rome.

Guests landing in Rome (FCO)

Rome is 2 hours from Naples by car. You can take a car service directly to the ferry terminal in Naples, or a train from Rome to Naples and then a local taxi to the ferry. A car service would have to be arranged in advance. We have used and enjoyed the following car services:

Guests landing in Naples (NAP)

The ferry terminal is a 20-minute taxi ride from the airport. Taxis from Naples airport to the ferry docks cost ~20 euros. Make sure you tell your taxi driver you know this in advance or they will 100% try to overcharge you! If you prefer to set up a private transfer, we like the following car service:

Ferry

You will need to take a ferry to get from the coast of Naples to Capri. Ferries cross frequently between Naples (or Sorrento, Positano, Ravello, Amalfi) and Marina Grande in Capri. We recommend pre-purchasing your ferry ticket in advance which can be done at Capri.net. The “High-Speed Ferry” takes about 1 hour. We recommend arriving at the port 20 minutes before the ferry departs.

Another option to get to Capri is hiring a private boat transfer which can usually hold 6-8 people. The cost for this varies depending on the company and availability. We recommend one of the following companies:

Baggage & Getting to your Capri Hotel

The ferry from Naples will drop you off at Marina Grande in Capri. Contact your Capri hotel concierge prior to your departure from the US to tell them which ferry or boat you are taking to Capri. Your hotel Concierge will help you arrange a porter service to transport your luggage from the ferry dropoff at Marina Grande in Capri to your hotel. Taxis on Capri only take passengers not luggage. Your luggage will be handled separately by a service that will meet you at the dock of Marina Grande when the ferry arrives in Capri. Your hotel can also help you set up a taxi from Marina Grande to your hotel. Marina Grande is very crowded so planning for a taxi in advance through your Capri hotel concierge will make your day much, much easier.

Airbnbs

If you are staying in an airbnb, please send the address to us so we know where to drop off your welcome bags. You should also contact your host to ask about luggage transfer from the ferry.

Getting around Capri and Anacapri

Capri is not a big island. There are no cars or taxis within Capri Centro as it is a walking town. If you need to get between Capri and Anacapri, taxis are available and the cost is ~40 euros. Make sure to have euros on you for this. Taxi areas in central Capri are on Via Roma (turn left just past the clock tower) and next to the buses as well as further down the same street. Taxis can take you anywhere and are a fun and great way to see some spectacular views.

Euros

There are a few cash machines located on the island, though it is always recommended to have euros in your pocket before you arrive. Please note, some taxis only take euros and you also likely will need euros for tips and such before you have a chance to locate an ATM.

Restaurant/Beach Club Reservations

If you are interested in eating at any one of Capri's great restaurants, or hanging at a beach club, we highly recommend booking well in advance through your hotel concierge. Restaurants and beach clubs leave spaces open for the hotels but otherwise, it can be difficult sometimes to secure a reservation.
